After an adventurous day in Temecula, we took highway 78 to Oceanside. We enjoyed waves at Carlsbad, amazing appetizers at Le Papagayo in Leucadia, and quintessential California scenery along old highway 101. And towards the end of the journey we hit upon an awesome sight: the Del Mar Fairgrounds. We had heard about it previously, but our personal visions of it did not compare to what we were witnessing: bathed in perfect light, the perfect layout of tents and rides, humming along in harmony, festive and proud.
The shakiness of the picture above doesn't do it justice, but man, if heaven is a fair at the edge of the ocean, I better make sure I have tickets.
