Any kind of story that involves large bodies of water gets points in my book. From the New York Times, here's an overview of Oahu's north shore. That coastal drive from east to west, along with stops at beaches, parks, and shrimp shacks, is something everyone should experience.I do cringe at the thought of traffic on Highway 83, so make sure you know your escape routes in case you run into congestion.
On the other side of the planet, there's the Blue Lagoon in Iceland, a massive pool of geothermal seawater filled with mineral salts, silica and algae. You can even get some spa treatment there, as long as you heed to this: "To make your treatment as effective and enjoyable as possible we recommend that you relax in Blue Lagoon before and after the spa massage or treatment." Now why would you ever want to not do that?
